CONGRATULATIONS!


We are delighted to share thew news that Prof Dr Lee Ping Yein (MBBS, MMed Family Medicine) has been appointed as an adjuct professor in the eHealth Unit at the Faculty of Medicine, UM. Promotion to adjunct professor is a distinct honour reserved for academician who have demonstrated consistently outstanding achievements in teaching and research.

Prof Dr Lee is a professor of family medicine and a consultant family medicine specialist. She is the deputy editor of Malaysian Family Physician Journal and associate editor of BMC Endocrine Disorder Journal. She has special interest in e-Learning and eHealth. She was one of the institution lead of a project on development of online reusable learning objects (RLOs) for medical curriculum in collaboration with institutions from European Union countries and Malaysia. This project aims to use pedagogical methodology of developing and repurposing RLOs to produce engaging, effective and diverse e-learning materials in the field of biomedical health science.

She is also involved in a project on development of virtual patient in Universiti Malaya. This project aims to develop a case builder and a game platform for undergraduate and postgraduate medical students to experience virtual clinical consultation and practices. She was actively striving to improve teaching and learning techniques and improve students’ learning experience and outcomes through innovations and technology with usage of online learning platforms and MOOC. She was also involved in a few projects on the development of eHealth apps and websites on patients decision aids and eliciting patient’s agenda for consultation and health app for breast cancer screening and asthma self-management.

Her interest in learning programming and her clinical and teaching experience enable her to bridge the existing gaps of communicating and translating clinical teaching and clinical practice to e-Learning and eHealth development and implementation.
